January 18, 2004

Hey everyone......

As you probably know Kade passed away January 4, 2004 after a long bout of bone marrow transplant complications.  Kade had a very rare blood disease called Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, which basically means that his bone marrow had a hole in it and he would bleed out red blood cells at night through his urine.  A bone marrow transplant is the only cure for it.

As we have come to realize, it is not the transplant itself that is so difficult, it is fighting all of the dormant diseases that lie in the body as well as the body accepting the new marrow cells.  It is a miracle procedure for those that do survive it.  I remain thankful for modern technology and knowledge that allows diseases to be cured......even if it didn't work for us.  Much knowledge was gained from Kade's struggle and I just hope and pray that what was learned will benefit someone else down the line.

Kade suffered a lot the last few months. In late May, he came down with graft vs. host disease which attacked his intestinal system.  Then almost immediately following that he was assaulted with a dormant virus in his body called BK virus.  This virus attacked his kidneys and bladder.  Kade was in severe pain - urinating blood clots and suffering from a constant back ache.  Then he began having respiratory problems in August.  He was diagnosed with Aspergillus.  This is a fungal infection of the lung.  Aspergillus is a common dirt mold found in the Central Texas Region.  Kade was started on a new drug to treat the infection that just came out in the last year.  It wasn't effective enough to fight the infection for Kade.....and that just wasn't the Lord's plan.  Many times Kade would be resistant to drugs.  For instance, he had another infection in his sinuses.  They cultured the infection on four different drugs to see which one the infection was least resistant to - Kade was resistant to 3 out of 4 of the drugs.

Kade lost the battle to Aspergillus.  It covered his lungs with an invisible film and did not show up until the day before his death.  It is literally a "ghost killer".

I miss Kade so very much.  I am still in shock that he is not here anymore.  It just doesn't seem real.  God continues to comfort me and lift me up.  I know that my baby is in heaven with my Father.  One of my friends made a comment that really made me think.  You know, if God gave Kade a choice to come back here and be perfectly healed, he would say no.  Why would he want to leave perfection?  I believe that with all my heart.  Someday I will be reunited with my Kader boy and it will be perfect.

Friends and relatives of Kade that are grieving so much, I will close with the words of my Lord:  "Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; Trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me.  You know the way to the place where I am going."

Friends of Kade, God has a place for you someday.  He has gone to get it all ready for you.  Your job is to accept his invitation to come and live with him by accepting him as your Lord and Saviour.  All you have to do is invite him into your heart to live and he WILL be there literally in a heartbeat.  Kade did this a long time ago when he was about 7 or 8.  I know that he longs for all you to meet him "at the house" someday.  Don't disappoint him!

John 3:16 - "For God so loved all of you that He gave his only Son that if you BELIEVE in him you will not perish (die an eternal death) but will have eternal life with Him."    God and Kade are waiting for you......

Bible Verse of the Week

. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
